I dont understand why when tracking a package it says a notice was left when in fact the mail carrier hasn't even been to my house yet. Says an attempt was made but that is clearly not the case. Why is this done?

Told the agent that I have a letter that I need to arrive next day and stressed multiple times that the next day delivery was very important. He picked a shipping option, and I asked again, is this next day shipping, to which he assured me that it was. I even asked about if there are insurance options that I could pay for if the delivery was late. I couldn't have made it more clear that I need next day shipping. Paid $20 to mail a letter, only to find out when I checked the tracking info today that he sent it 2-3 business days. If I wanted 2-3 day shipping I could have just paid a dollar for a stamp and mailed the letter.
